My Story
For over 20 years, it has been an honor and privilege to educate and support families through one of their most impactful life transitions, and this continues to fuel my passion for birth and health.

Not everyone can say they remember the moment they found their life's passion, but that moment for me was rooted in the hours following the birth of my friend's second child. It was the first birth I attended, other than my own, and offering physical and emotional support came naturally and felt authentic. I left with my endorphins high and a new sense of purpose.

This also awakened a desire to teach childbirth education, which was planted while taking Bradley® childbirth education classes with my husband. My degree in Community Health Education provided a strong foundation in health and wellness and this background began to align with my interests and experience.

Within a year, I became a certified birth doula and Bradley® childbirth instructor. This path fullfilled my desire to be a stay-at-home mom with my three children while also teaching childbirth classes and attending births as a doula. As a mother, I have experienced fertility challenges, a mid-pregnancy miscarriage, two hospital births attended by physicians and a home birth with a midwife. These experiences have shaped who I am and how I show up for my clients and students.
My interest in holistic health, wellness and nutrition grew along with my family, prompting education, research and becoming an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Prenatal nutrition is a passion I incorporate into my childbirth classes and client relationships to help create a practical nutrition foundation and optimize a healthy pregnancy, baby and family. One-on-one coaching offers a deeper dive and more personalized guidance to their lifestyle.

I was fortunate to be trained by very experienced doula trainers, including Dr. Amy Gilliland, a renowned doula researcher and author. Over the years I have remained connected with Amy and I assisted with many of her doula trainings. She has since founded Doulaing the Doula, and I have now joined the faculty as a Birth Doula Trainer, which aligns with my passion as an educator and extends my reach as we train new doulas and provide knowledge, skills and a foundation for success.
